Dear Yoga Family,
As many of you know through chatting at the studio I graduated from Wayne State in May of 2014 with a master’s degree in counseling and a specialization in art therapy. It was a long road – five years! It always warmed my heart when many of you would ask how school was going. I heard the question, “So, are you done yet?” many, many times! Whew, I am done!
You might have noticed that I am not teaching yoga as much lately. I was lucky to get a full-time therapist position at HAVEN, Oakland County’s non-profit organization for the prevention and treatment of domestic violence and sexual assault. HAVEN seeks to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault across Oakland County and the surrounding communities by empowering survivors through advocacy and social change.
You are each strong and powerful individuals - I see that every time I teach a Bikram yoga class and watch as you all bend, twist, balance, breath, and hold postures. It is a beautiful sight to see yogis striving to do their best. And though as individuals you are each amazing, as a community when we come together and unite in solidarity to help support others who are struggling, we become a force that is overwhelmingly powerful and bold.
Just as yoga asana, or postures, can help us individually harness a tremendous amount of energy, as a community, that energy and purpose is astounding. So, please join us for a silent/music class on Saturday November 7th to benefit HAVEN. The class is donation-only, so give what you can and lets harness the amazing force that we each are, together.
You can sign-in to class here to pre-register.
Thank you and see you in class!
